Mural portfolio
"Can you believe people are actually letting me paint one-of-a-kind art pieces in their homes!?" Every mural is designed for one room and painted by hand, start to finish.
Behind the brush
Every mural starts as a blank wall. Here's Renay at work, one petal and one star at a time.
Two ways to work together
Have a picture in your head, a Pinterest board, a favorite book illustration or a photo you love? Share your references, colors and inspiration, and Renay will translate them into a mural sized and composed for your wall.
Not sure what you want, only how you want the room to feel? Tell Renay about the space and the people who use it, and she'll design a custom original in her own colorful, whimsical style. Nothing like it on anyone else's wall.
Send a few photos of the wall, rough measurements and what you're dreaming of.
Renay sketches the concept and gives you a quote based on size and detail.
She paints it by hand, on site, layer by layer, right in your home.
Walk in and smile. A room that's entirely, unmistakably yours.
From the studio
Swirling skies, sunsets and bouquets: the color and movement in Renay's studio paintings is what she brings to every wall.
Also by commission
Your best friend, painted in bold color on canvas from your favorite photo. Every whisker, freckle and floppy ear, plus a little personality (monocles optional).
Meet the artist
"I've been painting and creating for 20+ years. It's my goal to put more beauty and love out into the world. It's my way to rebel against the man."
Renay Thomas is the painter behind Arty RT and a studio assistant at The Art Jar. Whether it's a soft little tree for a new baby, a hallway turned into a night sky or a cheeky portrait of the family dog, she paints to make people smile, herself included.
Good to know
Renay paints murals in homes across Metro Detroit, throughout Wayne, Oakland and Washtenaw counties. Outside that area? Reach out anyway and ask. Pet portraits are painted in the studio, so those can come from anywhere.
Not at all. Some clients arrive with reference images; others just describe a feeling, a color or the person the room is for. Either way, Renay will shape it into a design before any paint goes on the wall.
Every wall is different, so each mural is quoted individually based on size, detail and the wall itself. Send photos and rough measurements to arty.renay@gmail.com and Renay will get back to you with a quote.
Yes. Murals are hand-painted on site, directly on your wall, so they fit the space exactly: corners, doors, outlets and all.
A few clear, well-lit photos of your pet (eye level is best), plus the size you'd like and any background color or personality touches you have in mind.
Let's make something
Tell Renay a little about your space. Photos of the wall are the most helpful thing you can send.
